Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) is an award-winning public charter arts school in Santa Ana, CA, celebrated for its unparalleled, rigorous academic program and pre-professional arts training. The school has molded generations of creative thinkers, artists, scholars, innovators, and entrepreneurs over the past three decades. With a goal of serving more students, California School of the Arts – San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) opened in August 2017 as our first sister campus in Duarte, CA.

DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Senior Graphic Designer, the Graphic Designer will focus on the organization’s graphic design needs to support the overall mission, strategic goals, and objectives of both OCSA and CSArts-SGV.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and create visually captivating graphics for various school marketing collateral, including brochures, programs, posters, banners, flyers, apparel, e-blasts, digital ads, social media content, video graphics, and web assets. • Work closely with arts conservatory directors to create performance flyers and programs that effectively represent the theme, title, and production of each show. • Manage performance program ad placement and layout, working closely with advertisers and the schools’ Parent Liaisons. • Support the Business Office and academic administrative staff with the design of various documents, including catalogs, forms, signage, programs, and more. • Collaborate with various teams to understand project requirements and objectives, ensuring that design solutions align with the schools’ branding guidelines. • Communicate with print vendors to obtain print quotes and select appropriate paper stocks, finishes, and printing techniques. Prepare print-ready files, ensuring proper file formats, image resolutions, and bleeds, to meet requirements of different printing processes. Manage and keep track of the timely delivery of packages from various print vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS: • A love and passion for the arts, graphic design, and creativity. • Expert in the use of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. • Experience with creating graphics for both print materials and digital/web/social media formats. • Proven understanding of the elements of visual hierarchy in graphic design. • Knowledge of the print/production process and working with print vendors. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint (Keynote, Wordpress, animation, and HTML experience preferred). • Must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal skills and a strong attention to detail. • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player. • Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn. • Dependable. • Great organizational skills. • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CREDENTIALS: Five or more years of professional experience in graphic design, bachelor’s degree and experience working in a nonprofit, educational, or arts organization environment preferred. Must provide portfolio and professional work that clearly meets the qualifications for the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office and classroom equipment • Hearing and speaking to exchange information • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds • Operating a computer keyboard for extended periods of time • Seeing to read and compose written or typed materials • Standing and sitting for extended periods of time

WORKING CONDITIONS: School/office environment. While the employee will be regularly working in person on the OCSA campus, they may also be required to travel to CSArts-SGV or to special event locations on occasion. Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.

SALARY / BENEFITS: Work Year: 225 work days Salary: Starting at $73,147.11 – up to $91,350.72 based upon a ten-step salary schedule Benefits: Health, vision, and dental plans; and State Retirement Plan CalPERS
