Job Description

Arthur Jafa Studio, Inc. is seeking a full-time Studio Assistant to begin immediately.

INTRO:

Arthur Jafa’s profound impact on the art world and his innovative approach to visual storytelling have garnered critical acclaim and recognition. His artistic contributions have earned him prestigious awards, including the Golden Lion for Best Artist at the 2019 Venice Biennale, a testament to the significance of his artistic endeavors.

As an accomplished artist and filmmaker, his art practice embraces a multidisciplinary approach, spanning film, photography, sculpture, and installation.

JOB DETAILS:

This is a vital support position, instrumental in achieving the studio’s objectives. Your duties will encompass general upkeep of workspaces, to actively contributing to research & development. We are seeking an ideal candidate who thrives on learning new skills, as our projects often involve experimentation with different materials and techniques. The studio is located in LA’s historic West Adams neighborhood.

Responsibilities
Reports to Studio Manager(s) –

The Studio Assistant plays a key role in assisting with day-to-day operations. They will also work closely with the Design Director, alongside the artist, on exhibitions and art production.

WORK HOURS:

Monday through Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:

Able to take initiative and work collaboratively

Ability to problem solve and stay organized

Access to reliable transportation to run errands (e.g. supply runs, vendor pick ups/deliveries; vehicle fuel cost reimbursable)

Experience with using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign

Experience with using Google sheets, calendar, docs

Experience with handling artwork (inkjet prints, paintings, sculptures; hanging art)

Experience with using power tools (drill, miter saw, router, palm sander, shop-vac; general hand tools)

A PLUS:

Experience with digital photography and inkjet printing

Experience with metalwork and/or woodworking

Experience with 3D software such as Rhino, Z Brush, SketchUp
