Dreams for Schools is seeking a part time Graphic Illustrator. Hybrid/Remote position with availability to come into Santa Ana, CA office as applicable.

Salary: $19.50/hour

Position Overview:
The Graphics Illustrator will create visual drawings according to specifications set forth by DFS. You will be responsible for generating illustrations for DFS programs (curriculum flyers, etc.) and other related work as required. We are seeking someone who will create engaging visuals including diagrams, charts, illustrations, and other graphics to help explain complex engineering and STEAM concepts and bring course material to life.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:
● 15-20 hours of weekly time spent working on DFS projects - These hours may change as required depending on employer/employee needs. Under these circumstances, where hours will need to be changed, the employee/employer will give as much notice as possible
● Work closely with curriculum developers, subject matter experts, and instructional designers to understand content needs and determine the best methods to visualize concepts, data, processes, and other abstract ideas
● Develop illustrations, info-graphics, diagrams, storyboards, and other visual assets for digital and print engineering course materials covering topics such as engineering, Arduino, Sphero robots, coding, and more.
● Maintain illustration style guides and ensure all graphics meet brand guidelines and curriculum visual standards
● Assist in creating and developing any graphics needs for all DFS programs, curriculum, social media, administrative needs, etc.
● Communicate and coordinate with Dreams for Schools’ team on a timely and consistent manner
● Provide rough sketches, revisions, and final vector files as needed by required deadlines
● Work in an efficient manner to complete all projects on deadlines
● Work with other creative teammembers to produce content.

Minimum Qualifications:
● Previous work experience as a graphics illustrator or similar role
● Portfolio of illustrations or graphics or other completed projects
● Portfolio demonstrating illustration skills and ability to explain complex subjects through graphics
● Proficiency with vector design software such as Adobe Illustrator
● Ability to quickly grasp technical engineering concepts and represent them visually
● Excellent communication skills to understand project needs
● Extremely detail-oriented with commitment to creating accurate illustrations
● Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a creative curriculum development team
● Create guidelines for how logos and other branding materials should be displayed and used.
● Help make design choices (e.g., fonts and colors) for all content for DFS.
