Job Description

TITLE: Art Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Program
REPORTS TO: Branch Director
STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part Time Employment (6-hours per day)
Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Branch Director, the Art Coordinator plans and executes programs in the areas of Fine Art. The Art Coordinator supports our priority outcomes areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character and Citizenship of our members. Fine Art programs aim to teach members design, drawing, painting and creativity. Safety is the number one priority of the Art Coordinator.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment, conducive to youth development.
2. All storage areas are organized for quick retrieval of items. Repairs are reported to Branch Director and taken care of in timely manner. Responsible for maintenance for all Club Art equipment.
3. Coordinate with STEAM Director to implement Liberal Arts curriculum.
4. Plan and execute Art Programs to actively engage members, parents, volunteers, and community.
5. Plan and conduct weekly lessons for members at an age appropriate level with safety measures in place.
6. Provide leadership and guidance for professional development for other Art instructors and volunteers in the Club to promote learning and teach best practices.
7. Facilitate and improve the Club’s Art programs.
8. Provide leadership, development, and implementation of the curriculum for Art programs.
9. Ensure that topics taught in the Club’s programs meet state and national standards and following current Art trends.
10. Maintain current knowledge and trends of developments in the Art model.
11. Collaborate with schools and community partners to support Art programs and initiatives.
12. Collect quantitative data on pre, mid, and post program outcomes for members.
13. Administrative tasks include but are not limited to: creating purchase orders and purchasing needed supplies, budget development and maintaining budget, program income, grant management, and inputting data into the member tracking system.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May manage special programs and/or events and/or participate in the implementation of other Club organization activities as requested. Will represent Club at events in the community.
2. Required to drive the Club van periodically; will be recommended to secure a Class B driver’s license within one year of date of hire.
3. Will be required to consult with parents, members, and volunteers verbally or in writing concerning Art programs and goals.
4. Will be required to handle other tasks or projects, as assigned such as but not limited to: building maintenance, painting of building, van maintenance, serving food, set up of AV equipment, etc.
5. Will become a California required mandated reporter. Supervises and ensures the safety of members throughout the Club.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Due to the relationships with members, staff, and volunteers, a minimum of 2 years’ commitment is recommended. Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
▪ Preferred 2 years of equivalent/relevant work experience based on the Art development needs of youth ages 7 -18 years old.
▪ Strong communication skills, understanding of group dynamics.
▪ Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities.
▪ Basic knowledge of updating and managing websites.
▪ Ability to repair technology equipment.
▪ Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
▪ Demonstrated knowledge of audio/visual equipment use (projectors, screens, televisions, security systems etc.).
▪ Experience using video development software and other software’s.
▪ Mandatory CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications.
▪ Valid Driver’s License and clear driving record.

▪ Ability to learn and teach the common understandings of relevant Art activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
▪ Use of hands and upper extremities to draw, paint and perform other art needs.
▪ Manual dexterity to repair equipment.
▪ Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
▪ Ability to sit, stand and walk to supervise members.
▪ Noise level in work environment varies from very quiet to very noisy based on attendance.
▪ Supervision of large, medium, and small groups is required. BGCCV staff ratio is 1 adult per 20 members.
