Illustrator for girls’ empowerment book (ages 3-7)
I’m seeking an illustrator who has the skills and hunger to be part of creating a book that’ll empower girls ages 3-7 to speak their truth about their needs, ideas, and value. The book teaches girls the skills to drive their life assertively, instead of conforming to outdated societal expectations of holding back to fit in, being “good girls” and people-pleasers, or putting others first.
As a mom of a 3-year old daughter, I’m on a mission to create a new normal where females don’t hesitate to speak up for themselves. Instead, females from a young age can go after what they want - and get it - and are appreciated for their divinely feminine assertiveness.
The copy for the book is complete, and I just need an illustrator before self-publishing.
Other details and requirements:
· Audience: Girls ages 3-7
· Number of illustrations: 26 in the body, covers (front and back), front matter (title page, dedication page & copyright). The front matter will be really simple.
· Girls between the ages of 3-7 who are of different colors (white, African American, Hispanic, Asian American, and American Indian), sizes, shapes and abilities (including at least 1 handicap girl. E.g. wheelchair, hearing aid) in day-to-day interactions. Where appropriate, males or people of other genders can be included in the illustrations.
· Style: A hybrid of cartoon and realistic, that has fairly true to life proportions yet is still fun.
