DEPARTMENT: Pre-Press
JOB SUMMARY: Pre-flight and process files for output to digital and platemaking devices according to
job ticket instructions.
JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Makes judgments of time and materials requirements.
Color break dies as needed, layout forms in Preps to include color bars and marks.
Makes decisions and implements procedures for complicated sheet layouts.
Sets up and operates proofing and plating equipment to include performing tests and making
adjustments accordingly.
Checks plates as they are being output.
Inventories press sign off sheets and proofs.
Performs plate care after press and files them for reuse later.
Instructs others in the technical and mechanical operations of the equipment.
Performs routine process related maintenance.
Completes production records and files materials.
Archives files after the jobs have been through production.
Backs up files to DVD as needed.
Performs other duties as requested.
