Job Description

Seeking: Administrative and Media Assistant to organize and oversee the
administrative needs of Laguna Beach United Methodist Church (UMC).
This position reports to the Lead Pastor, operating in coordination with them, other staff,
and volunteer ministry leaders of the church. You will be working together to facilitate
the mission and ministry of Laguna Beach UMC as we help people to bring God’s love
to life with open hearts, open minds, and open doors.

What you’ll do:
- Serve as receptionist: courteously greeting guests, answering phones, and directing
volunteers to the appropriate leaders for assistance
- Manage church and building use calendars; maintain church’s public calendars, so
they remain updated and accurate
- Sort and distribute mail
- Manage church files, both digital and paper
- Manage and update church database, directory, officer list, and email distribution list
- Create weekly worship documents in consultation with Lead Pastor and Music
Director
- Update church website and social media sites weekly with event postings and
new/revised content, worship video links, etc. (Content will be provided).
- Create and send weekly church email updates to subscribers
- Create and distribute periodical congregational updates and correspondence, as
requested by Leadership Board or Lead Pastor
- Manage office equipment
- Maintain and order supplies
- Support church leaders and committees as requested
- Assist with special projects and other tasks as directed by the Senior Pastor
- Maintain confidentiality and trust​
What we’re looking for:
- Experience supporting a church or small organization management team in an
administrative role
- A high degree of organization and attention to detail
- An eagerness to contribute to an inclusive and welcoming work environment, and to
serve a church community that fully welcomes all.
- Good command of Google Suite and Office 365 products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel,
etc.
- Experience creating and managing newsletters and email programs with Constant
Contact, MailChimp or similar email platforms
- Ability to use (or willingness to learn) WIX or similar website content management
system for simple website content updates (content will be provided)
- Ability to post content to social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram
(content will be provided)
- Comfort with the basics of Zoom videoconferencing

Compensation:
This position is for 25-30 hours per week, on site in south Laguna Beach, CA, with
potential for hybrid work environment after initial probationary period.
Hourly, $25-$30, depending on experience.
