Hello there, I’m in the process of self-publishing my first book. The book is novella with a theme similar to The Wizard of Oz or The Alchemist, where the main character is a young boy who sets off on a quest to discover a mysterious and illusive treasure called beauty. He meets several people along the way and also encounters various weather conditions. One of the main themes of the book is how perception is everything – how people perceive things differently based on their own experiences.
The Job
• Create a custom minimalist cover illustration and book cover design for the front, spine and back of the book that can also be made into an e-book cover.
• Playing on the theme of people perceiving things differently, I’m interested in an illustration and/or design that could possibly appear to be one thing at one angle and something else at another
• The illustration/design should incorporate the sun and a boy.
I already have somewhat of a concept in mind that I’d like you to bring to life, but I’m open to your ideas as well.
The Artist
• One person to illustrate and design the cover or two people: one to illustrate and another one to design. Please indicate if you are interesting in illustrating, designing or both.
• Preferably a junior or above, but not necessary
• Provide at least 5 samples of your work. At least one sample should include an illustration of a person. It would be great if the person is a child, but not necessary.
• Provide a brief statement about why you’re a good fit for this project
