SPMDesign — OUR ETHOS
Consistency, thoroughness, passion, and craftsmanship are the fundamentals on which we have built SPM Design. Our team has decades of experience in design, multidisciplinary production, artisanal craftsmanship, and fabrication.

We design, curate, build, and install custom elements, such as large-scale art, environmental graphics, wayfinding, experience moments, exhibits, and public activation. We work directly with clients, architects, and interior designers to bring to life the art and design that overlays the traditional architecture scope. We are a fast-growing design and fabrication studio with many exciting, unusual projects.

POSITION SUMMARY //
We are looking for undergraduate to graduate student or a 3D designer within 1-2 years of graduation for an internship position. This is a paid hourly position for 40 hours a week for 2.5–3.5 months in our Orange, CA office. You’ll work on many design objectives, including research, presentation decks, concept sketches, 3D modeling, and production file setup. Conceptualize ideas and tasks for projects of various scales and present ideas to internal designers. Stay highly collaborative with a self-driven, organized, and flexible attitude.

SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS //
Experienced in Rhino
Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite
In pursuit of Bachelor’s degree or Graduate degree in a related field (architecture, exhibit design, interior design, or similar) or within 1-2 years of graduation
Good ability for written and verbal communication
Highly collaborative attitude and positive response to feedback
Curiosity to learn more and push the boundaries of artistic expression
Active Interest in design, architecture, art, and fabrication

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES //
Work as part of a larger design team, closely with design leadership
Ask questions and meet internal deadlines.
Work on multiple design projects at various stages of development
Collaborate with designers, engineers, fabricators, and project managers to develop realistic solutions while maintaining a strong design aesthetic.
Prepare presentations for client review and present work internally.
Gather research and reference imagery specific to each project objective.
3D model designs, and create renderings and other project visualizations for clients and other designers
Assist in creating final production files.
Communicate the status of projects consistently to design leadership.
Meet with design leadership weekly to receive feedback and discuss the needs and goals of each project.

COMPENSATION //
$28 hourly, 40 hours per week. Must work in person at our headquarters in Orange, CA.
